“Vacation” at the Kienows’

Sarah and I have tried to take some vacation time recently, but life has been a little bit crazy.

So, last weekend, our Lifegroup (think Bible Study) leaders, Karl and Jill, decided to open up their house for us to have a getaway.  They were out of town for the weekend and figured we could put their pool, HDTV, and fridge to good use.

We were only able to hang out for a few hours on Saturday afternoon, but it was a rest well needed!  We ate some lunch, watched some olympic trampoliners (what the heck?), and–most importantly–swam.  The pool was great!

Because Karl and Jill live out in the country, we were able to enjoy some “wildlife.”

He (she?) was pretty much the coolest frog ever.

Anyway, we had a good time together and were very thankful for great friends!

Thanks For Being Real

I got called out by a friend today.

I had disrespected him (unintentionally) and he felt wronged (justifiably).

So he called me out. And told me about it.

And I love him for that.

Because a lesser man would’ve just “let it go” and stayed angry with me for being a prideful jerk (which I am) but dealing with it brings resolution and growth for us both.

Sure, it hurt my pride. Sure, it made me a bit angry. But I’m better for it.

So thanks for being real. I need that.
